Travel Tip of the Day!

Copy all credit cards, airline tickets, passports and important documents, front and back. Jewelry, luggage and all valuables should be photographed prior to travel. Install motion lights in the front and rear of your house. Do not put your name on mailboxes, etc. Buy electronic timers that turn lights and TV on and off at different times.

Rum

Apple Silk

3/4 oz light rum
1 tsp apple brandy
4/3 oz sweet vermouth
1/2 tsp grenadine syrup
1 tsp lemon juice
Shake with ice and strain into cocktail glass.

Banana Daiquiri

1-1/2 oz. white Rum
1 oz. lime juice
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 ripe banana
Ice to fill
Thoroughly blend ingredients. Enjoy.

Coffee Kicker

1/2 oz dark rum
1/2 oz coconut liqueur
1/4 oz coffee liqueur
1/4 oz 151-proof rum
Juice of 1/2 lemon
4 oz pineapple juice
Combine ingredients, pour over cracked ice into highball glass. Cherry garnish.

Cuba Libre

Fill a tall glass with ice. Add:
1-1/2 oz. dark Rum
Juice of half a lime
Cola to fill
Stir and garnish with lime shell.

High Stepper

4 cups water
1 cup dried sorrel
1/2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
1/2 cup sugar, or to taste
Rum

Bring the water to a boil. Add the sorrel and ginger. Turn off the heat, cover and let stand for 4 hours. Strain. Add sugar to taste. Chill. Add rum to taste and serve.
Yield: 2 pints

Planter's Punch

Fill a tall glass with ice. In a shaker combine:
1-1/2 oz. dark Rum
1/2 oz. lime juice
1/2 oz. lemon juice
oz. orange juice
1 teaspoon white sugar
Dash of grenadine syrup
Ice to fill.
Shake and strain into the glass.

Rum Punch

1 of sour (lime)
2 of sweet (simple syrup)
3 of strong (rum)
4 of weak (water or ice)

Slippery Banana

1 oz light rum
1 1/2 oz cream
1 oz creme de banana
1 dash grenadine syrup
Shake ingredients with crushed ice, strain into cocktail glass. Sprinkle with nutmeg.

Sundowner

1 1/2 oz light rum
1/2 oz orange liqueur
1 oz sour mix
1/2 oz grenadine syrup
Dip rim of glass in sugar. Shake ingredients with ice, strain into glass. Garnish with orange rind.

Tamarind Toppler

Ingredients
1 36 oz bottle tamarind syrup
1/2 pt water
1/4 pt rum
1 dash Angostura bitters
Sugar to taste (optional)
2 bottles cream soda

Method
Mix the syrup, water and rum together. Add sugar, if desired, and a dash of bitters.
Just before serving, add the cream soda and ice. Stir and serve.

Tooty Frooty

1 oz peach schnapps
1/2 oz spiced rum
3 oz orange juice
Pour ingredients into old fashioned glass filled with ice. Garnish with lime rind.
